The Proteus has just come in, a bit late. :( Bumpy ride!

The bus can't stop in the usual spot because the workmen are busy grouting the new paving so it is parking round the corner. :P

Symi has got back its direct service to Pireias, with this boat (the Dimitroula) calling in on the stopping-service Rhodes-Pireias run.

Shouldn't think there's much room left :( in the harbour for other boats in there Anthony?

I bet it's a task and a half trying to manouvre that thing around such a small space :o :o :o .

I've not been round the other side of the harbour to see how much room there is, but I can't imagine there's much!

The Dimitroula was in harbour again today late morning on its way to Rhodes. It does two round trips a week, Pireas to Rhodes and back, leaving Pireas late afternoon Monday and Wednesday and arriving in Symi around midday the next day (plus late afternoon on its return leg from Rhodes).

Ironically in Greek the suffix -oula on a feminine noun denotes a diminutive: i.e. Dimitoula is "little Dimitria" .

That said, in Greek even more than in English the diminutive is used as a term of endearment as well as a reference to actual size.

And of course in any case size is relative: no doubt in Pireas harbour the Dimitroula does indeed look tiny alongside the really big ferries .
