That's a fantastic picture, Allan. So I see she's a regular visitor to Symi - carrying Cypriot tourists, no less. I wish I could remember who it was that told me she was carrying refugees?!
I did a bit of investigation on the Internet after my return from Symi, but I only found one reference to her - she's been renamed at least once and dates from the mid sixties (same age as moi). . so still not ready for the scrap yard
. I did notice that she needed a tow to pull her out whereas the other ferries have the bow propeller that Adiana mentioned - quite scary if you're sitting in a bar near the lighthouse! Thanks for that info - really interesting.
Coincidentally, I've just received a text message from my friend Jane who's in Symi right now staying at The Nireus with her mum - they're Welsh and are regulars to the island - met them when I was there in 2004. They're sitting outside a bar high up in Yialos behind Symi Visitor enjoying the view - grrr, I'm jealous now!
