It's definitely not worth going for a week plee when you can have 3 weeks for that price ☺

We re-booked our accommodation as we left last year, but have just booked our flights. It was really difficult from the North West. As usual, most flights were arriving late in the evening, meaning a few hours in a hotel on Rhodes before the early boat across. We have done this for a few years. We looked into going via Athens, but couldn't get it to work well. Eventually, we are taking a risk by arriving on Rhodes at 16:55 with hand luggage and hoping we can make the evening boat (if the timetable stays pretty much the same)
It seems to be getting more difficult to travel, the only decent morning flight with Tui was very expensive.

I know what you mean Katy.
It seemed to be simpler back in the days when most of the flights were in the morning (including some very early mornings!) and you could be certain, even before the ferry schedules were published, that there would be a late afternoon/early evening ferry on a Wednesday. There was always time to kill on Rhodes but you knew you'd get to Symi the same day and I particularly loved the flight down over the Aegean spotting the islands on the way. I miss that.

Now my "usual" journey is to take a Saturday afternoon flight and stay a night on Rhodes. Fortunately, for the last eight years we have been doing this route, there has always been an early morning ferry on the Sunday but that isn't guaranteed of course I just have to book the flights and hope for the best.

Symi is definitely not the easiest island to get to but we all know that it's worth it when you get there :) To be fair I'm quite happy with the afternoon flight out of LBA in the knowledge that Olympic will look after me on Rhodes and I'll be in my room at Anastasia the following morning. I think that's better than the year I had to catch the last train from Leeds to Manchester Airport and sit at Manchester until 4am waiting for check in to open. I arrived on Symi the same day but feeling like a zombie ;)
