Heavy rain and storms 03 Aug 2007 15:14:00

By Dimitris Alexopoulos

Sources: - 105.8

The National Meteorological Service in a special weather bulletin warns of bad weather conditions including heavy rain and storms starting on Sunday but mainly on Monday, starting from Macedonia, Thrace, northern Aegean and probably Epirus and Thessaly. The Civil Protection General Secretariat has called on competent sectors and services to be on the alert. In parallel it calls citizens to take the necessary self-protection measures.

  I particularly like the last bit!

MacDuff's got an umbrella  !

As we know from what happened in the UK recently, self-proctection measures can be easier said than done  .

Does seem the statement was a somewhat throw away statement designed to pass the buck....competant sectors and services - one would hope have these have been adequately equipped to be as effective as possible, assuming they know who they all are but the statement seems to be all encompassing so there could be confusion maybe.

We've actually had sunshine 6 days on the trot and the forecast for tomorrow is likely to be the hottest yet maybe reaching 27 degrees :( ! Yippee...make the most of it folks, I can't believe it will last long.

Near Preston, Mazie - it's the bit on the weather map where the rain symbol is actually painted on permanenetly. There's an old saying - "If you can't see the hills it's raining, if you can see them it hasn't started raining yet"!

Its always pelting down in Preston, Maziemoo.
I can fully understand how young Norman looks forward to his 2 weeks in the sun. ;)
Although its not really "summer" in Symi when he hits it, I think a real dose of summer could have very adverse effects on him.
And, err, being follically challenged myself, one has to be careful in direct sun...the beeswax bubbles. :o

Oh bless you both...well for the record I quite like men who are follically challenged :) ;) !

Kojak - I feel for you mate, I'm sick to death of the rain  and it's fantastic to see some decent weather down here for a change :( but as August supposedly isn't forecast to be much better than July  , I'm trying to make the most of it....wouldn't want to get to Symi looking pasty white when I meet Kojak for the first time  ;) !
