Streamlined telephonic efficiency

The office is in uproar today as the new switchboard is being fitted. Apparently it will be a few days before it is operational as the electricians have to come and do their bit too.

It is quite exciting. :P New toys :D

Quotation from "Dinner with Persephone":
DEH = We don't have electricity.
OTE = Neither do we have telephones
EOT = Nevertheless, we have tourism

It sounds better in Greek.

Were they those bullet shaped things attached to a bit of elastic that you had to figure out which hole to shove it in? :?:

New switchboard and electricians! Hmm, I expect we won't be hearing from you for several days then! The biggest lie we ever heard at work was "This won't affect your network at all" :o

Too true, Kojak... ;)

The credit card machine is chirping pathetically to itself because it doesn't know how to dial zero to get a line...

So I rang the help line number that the credit card machine company left for such problems. :)

Turns out that is the number for an insurance company in Athens. :(

Who keep the number for the credit card machine company taped to their telephone because so many people have been given the wrong number. :)

They gave me the correct number, which bears no resemblence whatsoever to the wrong number.

And I have been listening to Fur Elise for a good ten minutes now...

It might have been much, much worse Adriana - they could have played "Greensleeves" or Vivaldi's Four Seasons. I used to like the latter until it was played on almost every phone line while my call (which was important to them) was put on hold...

Did you slip in a quiet mention of a Credit card machine there? Crikey. This really is getting a bit modern. Does this mean no more complicated transfers to the Alpha Bank? They always insist on a quill pen.

Credit card machine = last month's new toy. :D :D

They still haven't managed to work out how we can use it without the cards actually physically present (credit cards are still a bit of a novelty in the last outpost of Europe) so for mail order it isn't much use as yet but siga siga as they say in these parts... ;)
