Is there a festival on the island at this time?

The days of the grand Symi Festival with performers of national or international renown are over, at least for the time being. No money!
Instead sporadically through the summer there are performances by local musicians, dancers, and drama groups. There's almost bound to be at least one of these while you're on Symi. Ask around, look out for posters, or if all else fails there are tavernas and bars that host live Greek or international music.
