I'm Sooooooo Coooooold!!!!!!!!

Postby Buzzy » 08 Jan 2010, 17:18

I keep looking in on Symi every day. Can't believe it's 18 degrees there today. Houses either side of me have frozen pipes and no water. Recorded temperatures of minus 6 all day yesterday. Have stopped my pipes freezing by blasting the house with heating day and night and expecting a massive bill at the end of it all. To think 2 months ago I was stretched out on Nos beach. Arrrrgh.

Happy New Year here from Denmark.
Yes its cold outside. This morning it was -10 and a bit of wind,
started at 6 a.m. wating for train...took ages (well only 15 minutes late, just a blink of the eye!!!)
At this moment its still -9,8, am I glad my husband gave me a new wintercoat. Getting of in the morning same time...keep my hat on.
well Symi is in our dreams and in reality, when its September again.
Take care.

  It's minus something here and our road's still not been gritted so dug out hill walking kit - stick, boots etc. - and we may look a bit odd for city dwellers buy don't care as can now get around and not worry about slipping all over the place! Dreaming about Symi beaches helps keep me sane....just! :?:

I keep looking in on Symi every day. Can't believe it's 18 degrees there today.
According to the news today "Parts of south east Europe are experiencing unusually warm weather". :?

That made me feel SO much better as I trudged through the snow again to the local shop for emergency supplies (four packets of cat food, two bottles of beer and a bottle of wine).

Even though the temperature almost reached the dizzy heights of zero degrees today for the first time in three weeks, this is the state of our local reservoir.

No need for ice in the ouzo!

Wesham now has a skating rink! It's called Derby Road and it stretches all the way from my house to the main road. There are other skating rinks in Preston - they are called pavements...

Thanks for reminding us Kon! :?

But in five months time when you are cold and wet I'll be basking under a Symi sun. I'm SO looking forward to telling you all about it.

And no, there aren't fish in the reservoir.
Could be. Chuck in a packet of crisps and it covers all the essential food groups!

They don't have ski lifts? Shocking at the lack of basic facilities these days!

n.e. Scotland positively balmy today - 4oC but wind chill that would skin you. Sunny, blue skies not a cloud in sight and the thoughts are - ah some gardening and tidying until you step outside and freeze to the doorstep. Kojak - looks as if you are right about another blast and again we are faced with white-outs for Wednesday. My poor chickens have stopped laying eggs and spend all day hopping from one foot to the other or cower under the egg box. Truly now getting wearying!! Tip for keeping warm:- heat a double measure of Whiskey in a glass placed in really hot water. Heat the whiskey then disolve a spoon of honey in it and put in about half water to whiskey. After two of these you don't feel anything - magic!!
