And none of them call at Symi......
However on ANEK Line's website they have published the timetable for the Ierapetra right through till October, and she will continue to leave Piraeus on Tuesday and Friday afternoons, calling at Symi on Wednesday and Saturday mornings on her way to Rhodes. In the opposite direction sailings are Wednesdays and Saturdays Rhodes to Piraeus calling at Symi. Travellers from the UK may care to note that the Wednesday sailing from Rhodes has moved from last years' 10:30pm forward to 4:30pm, and this offers a useful connection off charter flights arriving in the early afternoon, assuming she's on time. It isn't unusual for Piraeus to Rhodes ferries to get delayed en route by loading and unloading vehicles at intermediate stops, and there isn't always enough turnround time in Rhodes to catch up the delay before it affects the return journey.

Thanks for that information Andy. The Wednesday afternoon sailing, even if it's delayed, will probably get to Symi earlier than the Proteus, particularly if it is doing the Kastelorizo run on Wednesdays again this year.

Unfortunately the Ierapetra timetable on the ANEK website has now changed back to the Wednesday sailing leaving Rhodes at 10:30pm.
It is a fact of life that Greek ferry timetables will change, but I'm sorry that this one has.....

We been waiting for the Wednesday evening Proteus several times when the Athens ferry has been due to leave at 18.00hrs. As we left the commercial harbour the big Athens ferry was still there showing an 18.00hrs departure! Friends who got on the big ferry hoping for an earlier arrival on Symi were still sitting on it as we sailed!
