Hello all....I have been looking for some time now at this great site, doing my homework, and drooling at the prospect of experiencing the place, am smitten with the island before I even get there!..planning to book myself and girlfriend onto the island later this year, maybe October time. I like the look of 'Karnayo' (as seen in the accommodation section...)and wonder if anyone has any further info about it and it's situation.....I like the idea of being slightly away from main harbour..but close enough to walk there etc...weather ok in Oct?...wouldn't usually be so pre-planned, but may just happen to propose to Sarah (girlfriend) whilst on the island!? Any advice and guidance is welcome (not on the proposal, pretty much got that sorted!!!!, but on the accomm.)Thanks.

Hello Tim,
How romantic
I don't know the accomodation you mention but the Harani area is in my opinion lovely.
We stayed up from the harbour in June this year and have already booked for next June in Harani which we loved. It just felt so traditionally Greek.
It is just far enough from the harbour and shops to be quiet but still able to watch the activity with boats going into the harbour. We loved the restaurant at the end of Harani (Thollos)and ate there several times. The Odyssia bar and cafe is second to none and the owners sooooooo pleasant. That is where we have booked for next June. As you walk from the harbour to Harani, you pass several lovely bars which you may just feel compelled to visit, and you pass through a really interesting small working boatyard.
Hope you enjoy your stay.

Your only possible problem with Karnayo (bearing in mind your romantic intentions!) is that there are two single beds, not a double...

Remembering my honeymoon on Symi back in 99, two single beds are not a big issue

Karnayo is great-stayed there a couple of years ago. Bit of a climb but worth it for the views.

Oh-and October is one of the best times of the year to visit; not too hot but the sea will be perfect and you can still sunbathe. :!:
