Roads,driving and car hire

Looking forward to my first visit to Symi.
Is car hire a sensible idea?

There are cars and bikes for hire but to be honest there's no real point. The bus that Andy mentioned will get you from Yialos where you are staying up to Chorio and on to Pedi.

A car will allow you to drive further into the centre of the island where there are a few places of interest to see and then down to the other end of the island to see the Panormitis monastery but I think most people will agree that Panormitis is best visited as part of one of the excellent all-day 'round the island' boat trips.
