Wont be getting to Symi

Postby dilys.jones » 13 Sep 2014, 19:45

Well[ Friday was a sad day, we received another phone call from Olympic regarding our two week holiday due to start on the 22nd Sep.

This time it was to say that our flight from Manchester had been cancelled and the only alternative was the 27th. We are both gutted as we cannot move our work commitments.

So lets hope 2015 brings better luck

That's terrible, you must be gutted  Did Olympic tell you why? I didn't realise they travelled to Symi on a Monday, I thought it was just Wednesday and Saturday.

Jet2 has a Monday evening flight from Manchester, so you'd get to Symi on Tuesday morning. The last flight back from Rhodes (early hours of Tuesday morning) was originally going to be the 7th of October, which would be the one dilys.jones caught home. The 7th October flight has been cancelled, which means she has no plane to come back on.
Pity they didn't suggest a 11-day holiday leaving on the original date and coming back on the Saturday (4th Oct) evening, there's a flight operated by Thomson that would work.

Sorry Gemma we were booked on the Wed flight, brain in a bit of a tiss. We were offered a flight out on the Sat 27th and coming back on the Sat 2 weeks later but we were also told we would have to leave Symi on the Friday and stay overnight in Rhodes. Didnt really fancy this plus we both have to be back in work on the 9th

A friend going to Halki on 24th September had her flight cancelled and was offered another one on Saturday 27th. Fortunately she's retired so was able to take the alternative one.

Yes we were also offered the 27th but we both had work comitments. We are having a great alternative holiday staying near Bowness in the Lake District, been here since last Thursday, weather warm and dry every day

To make your alternative holiday just that little bit better I should tell you that it was pouring down on Symi yesterday while you were sunning yourselves in Bowness. :D
