Rick Stein the chef has a place here overviewing the harbour!

Are you sure about that?
The cooking segments of his recent cookery/travel series "From Venice to Istanbul" were filmed in Villa Sophia which does indeed overlook the harbour entrance but he certainly didn't own the place, the TV company rented it from Symi Visitor.

Yes, it was an interesting programme, filmed in October 2014, shown in August 2015 and much discussed on the forum here:

Sophia's house is a wonderful place and was one of Symi Visitor's most popular rental properties. In a way, it's a shame it's been sold!
But It isn't Rick Stein's own place, in fact he didn't even stay there, it was used by the film crew, he stayed elsewhere on the island.

Great pics, especially of Pedi - only 8 weeks before I am back there again. A snippet from Rick Steins Symi kitchen was on BBC's Saturday Kitchen this morning. He was outside the villa cooking octopus on the bbq.

I'm staying at Pedi Beach Hotel, have stayed there for the past 5 years and it suits me. In the past I have stayed both up in Chorio and down in Harani which have been equally enjoyable - just makes for a different holiday experience.

Sophia's House, the villa that Rick Stein rented from Symi Visitor Accommodation for his film shoot which took place in late October/November 2014 was sold by the original German owners at the beginning of 2015 to a local Symiot family who live in the house full time so it is no longer a rental property. We do, however, have lots of other lovely houses in our portfolio - and they aren't all as expensive as Sophia's House! :-)
