Hi Lisa. I am completely unsure! No idea. My concern is the rules changing during the holiday which is always possible. I don’t want that uncertainty hanging over us. What are you thinking? Helen x

Well LisaB, me and E constantly live in hope and as has been proven over these last 15 months things can and do change very quickly. If they do change for the better then who knows what opportunities September / October might hold. Thankfully social media plus the blogs that James and Adrianna write help assuage our longing but the thought of an ouzo in Rainbow and dinner in Trata or Tholos or ........

We have flights for September but I agree with D, who knows where we'll be in a months time.
We can do the self-isolation on return but confinement in a hotel is a step too far financially.
Being positive, at least the people of Symi have been spared imported infection so far and I'm sure we'll all be back next year. Saying that, I do remain hopeful .

Ever hopeful, feeling more positive about it each day. Quarantine on return is the thing that will stop us visiting.

It is possible to travel to parts of Greece as a Dane.
Especially if you're fully vaccinated (which I am next month)
But.. personally, I don't have the guts to travel this year.
The guidelines can change within hours and that's a bit scary (at least for me)

Do you, in the UK, have to self- quarantine on the return?

We still have fingers very tightly crossed for September!

We are also booked for September but currently very unsure what we will do. The situation will have to improve significantly before I want to take the risk and I would only go if self isolation was not required. Oh how I miss the warm sunshine and swimming!

Hi Mille,
We do believe that of today we would have to self-isolate on return but the English Govt. is considering lifting this for those who are fully inoculated which includes us oldies :D
Health is a devolved issue so the Welsh Government, that has been very cautious throughout, would have to rule on this matter for us.
Not that long ago there was light at the end of the tunnel and then the tunnel got longer due to the Indian (delta) variant which is now the predominant cause of infection in the UK. This has happened in just a couple of months so uncertainty abounds.

Seems like we might hear more tomorrow, do you expect the same in Wales?

We too - and a number of our friends, all long time and fully vaccinated visitors - have flights booked, rooms waiting and will be very cross indeed if we can't travel. The cost of testing is annoying but fortunately for us not prohibitive so it's still fingers crossed.

Paid the balance of our September trip with Olympic last week,Hopefully we will be going and as retirees no probs with isolating if necessary.
We assume that the "Symi Testing" prior to coming home is capped by the Greek Government. Looking forward with fingers etc. crossed, to seeing you
and Barry Jan,we arrive in Rhodes on 8 th Sept.

Morning Peter (and Pam)

8 September is a good date to fly if you can face the chance of bumping into us in the airport or on whichever ferry gets to Symi earliest on the 9th.

We are there now and it is as beautiful as ever, we are hoping that the UK may put Greece in the green list before we are due to fly home but if not we can do the quarantine but are not very happy about the cost for days 2 and 8 tests in Scotland as we have to use the Scottish government web site to book them and there is no shopping around for the best deal as there is in England. Still Symi is worth it and as our flights were cheaper than expected we can cope.

It is busier than it was last August/ September but still much quieter than usual, most business are open but a few of the restaurants and cafes are still shut.
