Any way of getting from Symi to Nisyros in May? I can't see anything at the moment.

Too early to tell yet, most of the timetables for May have yet to be issued. However in past years there has been a daily service from Kos, usually both from Kos Town and Kardamena, using smallish caiques and day excursion boats, as well as 2 big boats and 2 Dodekanisos cataramans a week. One boat to look out for is Panagia Spiliani which has often run Kos-Nissyros. Certainly last time I went to Nissyros I had to go via Kos. The direct sailings from Symi. when they existed at all, were government subsidised and I doubt the money is available this year even if anyone wanted to operate them.

Thanks Andy. We've decided that the ferries aren't to be trusted so flying around the Aegean instead! Expensive but at least we know we'll get there...
