The cam is gone here...

But earlier it really looked rough. Looked like a boat was about to land on the SVA balcony!

The problem isn't caused by Symi power cuts for once. There's something wrong with one of the servers that host the webcam images - hopefully it will be fixed soon.

The problem seems to be fixed so we can all see the awful Symi weather once again.

First I got stuck on Rhodes for two days due to the weather. Then when I came down to the office on Sunday morning to catch up the power was off...

Looks like we are back to normal today, folks. As soon as I have finished answering the emails I will get a blog up

Perhaps Symi isn't that different from the UK, Adriana, you have ferry delays because of the weather, we have floods, ice and snow!

The sea conditions we were looking at on Friday, Kojak, I wouldn't have wanted to be out there believe me...

I've had a few rough trips over from Rhodes, mainly on the old Symi I before she was extended. Fortunately I don't suffer from sea-sickness so the only thing I was worried about was spilling my beer!

Oh how I remember a really bad trip over from Rodos back in the '80's on the old rust bucket the Panormitis, so many people were ill, they wouldn't allow it today - luckily like you Kojak I don't get seasick (was brought up on boats in my early years)and I made sure my girls were as well and their kids - none of them suffer. I have also just remembered a trip that we went on the Triton it was fine leaving the harbour and we were aiming for Sesklia but the weather in the straight suddenly changed and we had to come back - gosh it was exilerating bouncing about at sea for some of us and not so for others.

Noticed its a bit misty in Symi today .Doesn't look like rain .

Looks like an indoor day to me, provided one has stocked up on chocolate and have wood for the fireplace.

The "old" web-cam went into hibernation Des. 18th of last year. Any chance of kicking it back to life so I can observe the going on round "my" house?

Adriana do many people opt for water tanks now .Great opportunity to save some water for the sumer months

Well, Kon, we have nearly 100 tons of cistern capacity on our farm which we fill from the roof every winter and most of the houses on Symi used to do likewise. These days, however, people have taken to depending on the municipal supply and in recent years have started converting cisterns into extra rooms ...

My own personal feeling is the more tanks the better as I hate to see water go to waste , but I am a farmer's granddaughter!

Yes Adriana water has become a very important thing in our lives and especially in todays world climate conditions ,perhaps the Mayor of Symi can start a trend by giving land owners a certain % Land rates rebate to those who install water tanks as an insentive .I think the Greek islands should seriously think about their water situation and not leave it too late like us here in Australia.

Talking as to someone who did not have any running water for 10 days in 2007, and do not have a tank in my flat

It was horrendous without any watyer, sanitation was minimal, no pubs were open . When the water runs out, what do you do......

Any one who has a cisterna, in my humble opinion, should collect every drop as they may need it (e.g after the fire on Rhodes last year).
