Gosh it's looking really bleak on Symi  at the moment.

The webcam seems to be at a weird angle now :?: .

There's no way of telling exactly where it's pointing without dashing up and down from the office to the terrace and back so it's probably as close as she could get without spending ages on it.

That's okay, I realise she has more important things to do than keep running in and out fiddling with it and anyway any girl with common sense wouldn't stick her head outside today anyway  :o !

The old webcam was quite stiff and generally held its position. The new one is lighter and gets buffeted by the wind and rain, hence the odd angles. We were hit by several mini tornadoes yesterday afternoon and the camera was pointing all over the place!

Gosh Adriana, that's a side of Symi I haven't seen but looking at the webcam yesterday I could see it was looking rather bleak :o ....... I hope people didn't suffer any damage or injury at all.

They often happen here in stormy conditions and bad ones can do a lot of damage but these were quite small. Fast revolving white spray skittering across the water and then hitting the shore with some violence. They can be powerful enough to heel yachts over, jerk out anchors and flip over dinghies. :o

Sometimes we get full blown water spouts (cue Mike to put up archive photograph!)which are much more dramatic.

Greek mythology makes a lot more sense when one is here all year round! :P

Didnt the camera come with brackets of some sort?

Maybe Nikos could find a power drill and put the camera up with screws and whatnots?

Whatnots Mille? Have you any idea how hard it is to get hold of whatnots on Symi?

Thingies might might do at a pinch but they're a poor substitute for whatnots.

Reminds me of the time I installed a camera using doodahs. What a disaster that was.

He could always try doobyflops :P ....I've heard they're quite good.

My observation of Greeks is that they always find some simple and ingenious way of solving a problem. Course I'm making an assumption here that Nikos is Greek....apologies if I have it wrong Nikos  .

The camera base itself is stable but the camera is designed to be rotated on its mounting so it is on a pivot.

I think we'll probably have to jamb it as it seems to be making webcam viewers seasick watching it on a windy day!

It's no too bad, it was just that it had gone from a good view of the general Pedi bus area and across the harbour  to almost just the Pedi bus parking area, but I think it's okay now....could perhaps go down a bit maybe....but generally fine.

But hey, I don't want to seem ungrateful, the webcam is great :D and I think we're fortunate to have it and I can see the dilemma :) .

That's great Adriana. It's sunnier here in north west England but a lot colder!

Working fine now and the quality is excellent. It looks almost calm in the Harbour. Are the boats running again now?

The Symi II came in at one so there probably weren't enough people to justify the Symi ferry.

The health hydrofoil came in this morning - the doctors all jumped ship the minute it docked and said they had been sick as dogs on the crossing over from Rhodes! :o
