The only trouble with jokes in print - and God forbid, I've been guilty more than most - is that, without the stress and inflection that you can use verbally, hey appear to be serious comments. Now I always try to use "smilies" to show it.
Either that or I'm so bloody rude it cannot be misconstrued !
